Single fault

A bottle

of single-malt

scotch whisky

has been

on top of the fridge

for 6 months.

Almost all of it is gone

(but for a few lingering drops,

which shall be savored

a teaspoon at a time).

Whisky

unleashes the spirits

of yourself,

your past,

and the memories

buried within.

On the other side of the kitchen

is a big bottle

of vodka.

It will be gone

before the weekend.

Lust and love

reside within one,

toil and strife,

within the other.

Whisky reminds you

of your better self

(the places you had hoped

you might visit

on this forced journey).

Vodka…

helps to obscure.
